Walk Across Your Teacher to help Cubs for a Cure! 🐻🎗️
March 17-21st you can walk across your teacher. Bring in $1 and receive a bear or foot to put around your classroom door. The more dollars you bring in, the more bears or feet you can put around your door and you can help raise money for our Cubs for a Cure Relay For Life team! If you want to write a check, please make it payable to the American Cancer Society. The class that purchases the most bears or feet (1 class for PreK-2nd and 1 class for 3-5) gets to help make the banner that will be carried and displayed at Relay for Life on Saturday, May 3rd. Thank you for supporting our Cubs for a Cure relay team!

5th grade visiting the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum on Friday! They had a blast!

We enjoyed seeing so many smiling faces during last week’s STEM Night! Thank you Tammy Stone and JMU College of Education for bringing so many fun and education activities!

We have enjoyed numerous read alouds from Central Office and school board members this week for Read Across America. Many thanks to Donna Abernathy, Amy Painter, Amanda Rickard, Sara Horst, Hollie Cave, & Ashley Burgoyne for taking time from their schedules to share the love of reading with our cubs!

Third grade field trip to the Richmond Science Museum was full of fun and learning!

Our cubs enjoyed spending time with players from the JMU Football team! The Dukes read with students and even signed some autographs 😉 One fifth grader excitedly exclaimed, “I’m never washing this hand again!” Thank you, Dukes for sharing the joy of reading to our students and thank you Mrs. Marchand for coordinating the visit! Go Dukes!

Second grade just finished a unit about Westward Expansion. After learning about the Transcontinental Railroad, students got a chance to build their own railroad using a variety of learning toys and materials!

Second grade enjoyed a field trip to the jump park yesterday! (& teachers enjoyed the workout!)

We hosted CRES young ladies and their special guys at our annual SCA My Guy & Me dance. This dance began as an SCA campaign promise and has become a tradition at Cub Run. We had more than 250 family and friends in attendance. It was a joy to watch all of the smiles, the dancing, and listening to the laughter throughout. Thanks to every one (& Mrs. Lutz and the SCA) that made this night special!

We had fun celebrating the 100th day of school!

March Calendar!

Lots of fun during today's Global Play Day!

Mrs. Harding’s class has been learning about the Renaissance and focused on the artist Michelangelo. Michelangelo painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Students tried painting in the same way as they taped paper under their desks to paint. 🎨🖌️🧑🎨

Ms. Parker's class worked on creating the parts of the ocean floor with PlayDoh! What a fun way to review what they are learning in science!

Mrs. Spiers has a new, fun tool in the art room! A sewing machine! 4th and 5th graders are excited for this new project!

100 days of learning and laughter at Cub Run!

2nd graders enjoyed several “minute to win it” games- 100th day of school edition! Students had 100 minutes to “win” each game! 💯
