Missed Day Procedure

Q: After a missed day due to inclement weather or other unplanned circumstance, what happens to the even/odd schedule?

A: Students return to whatever day (Odd or Even) is scheduled on the calendar for that date.  Regardless if they miss one day or multiple days.

For example, if an even day was missed due to snow, the next day the students would return to school on an odd day because that is what is posted on the RCPS Odd/Even calendar.

Elementary school students will have a five-day rotation of Specials. Specials include physical education, art, music, and the library. The days are noted on the 2023-2024 RCPS Elementary Specials Rotation calendar. If school is closed because of inclement weather, students will miss the Special for the day of the closure and will return to the day (color coded 1- 5) that is scheduled on the calendar.

Q: If we have a late opening on an early release day, what happens?

A: Should there be a 2-hour delay on an early release day, it is possible the day could be extended to regular dismissal. Please check notifications sent that day for clarification.
