Priscilla May-Maiden was honored with the Joseph Hill Award for exceptional contributions to mathematics education by The Valley of Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics during their spring conference on Feb 29th.
Priscilla May-Maiden has a wealth of experience as an Instructional Technology Resource Teacher for Rockingham County. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from Bridgewater College and a Master's Degree as a K-8 Mathematics Specialist from JMU. As a classroom teacher, she focused on utilizing problem-based instructional strategies and discourse to teach conceptual mathematics. Working as an ITRT, she partners with teachers across the county to incorporate technology into their mathematics curriculum. She has spoken at conferences, is a mentor in the Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program, and teaches math education courses at JMU as an adjunct instructor. Priscilla is instrumental in shaping the math pilot curriculum and K–5 math professional development program in Rockingham County.
