Career and Technical Education (CTE) students from all four Rockingham County Public Schools (RCPS) high schools gathered today at James Madison University for the inaugural Young Entrepreneur Summit, a two-day event to inspire the next generation of business leaders.
Successful local entrepreneurs and business experts met with students at the summit, which JMU's Center for Economic Education organized in collaboration with regional school divisions. The event, which runs November 11–12, offers students comprehensive exposure to real-world business practices and entrepreneurial insights.
"This summit represents a unique opportunity for our students to learn directly from successful business owners in our community," said Carrie Gray, Supervisor of Career and Technical Education for Rockingham County Public Schools. "The hands-on experience and mentorship they're receiving here are invaluable."
Students participate in interactive workshops on business launch and management strategies throughout the event. The summit's collaborative sessions encourage participants to develop their business concepts while receiving immediate feedback from experienced entrepreneurs.
The program, running from 9:15 AM to 1:30 PM daily, exemplifies the growing emphasis on entrepreneurship education in Virginia's public schools. By connecting students with local business leaders, the summit aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world business application.
